ABOUT DACHSHUND SOCIETY
For people who take dachshunds seriously. Just not too seriously.
A small dog with a remarkably large world
They’re turning up in fashion, art, interiors, advertising, social feeds and gatherings far beyond the dog park. Dachshund Society is an independent magazine devoted to documenting the world forming around them — the people, ideas, histories, obsessions and everyday rituals that have made this unusually recognizable dog something larger than a breed.
Independent stories about dachshunds and the culture around them, delivered by email.

Inside the Society
Here you'll find reported profiles, cultural stories, essays, interviews and useful guides. Some stories begin with a question. Others begin with a particularly interesting dog, an unusual obsession or something I can't stop thinking about. I believe good stories deserve good reporting, even when their subjects have four-inch legs. That means taking the facts seriously, finding interesting people to talk to and making room for a little humor along the way.
Behind the Society
I'm Jaime, the founder, writer and editor of Dachshund Society. I write about the people, culture and curious little world surrounding dachshunds, with occasional detours into the absurd.
I also happen to share my life with two miniature dachshunds, Matzoh and Miso, who have very different personalities and remarkably strong opinions for animals with no discernible responsibilities.
They each have their own column in Low Opinions, the magazine's satire section. The bylines belong to them. The writing, of course, is mine.
